Position Title: Child and Family Therapist
Program/Dept: Permanent Housing Programs
Reports to: Associate Director
Classification: 32 Hours/week, 0.80 FTE, Exempt-level position
Salary Range: $36,000 + full benefits package and one paid hour of clinical supervision
Description: Hamilton Family Center (HFC) is a San Francisco based organization focused on returning families to independent living. Our mission is to end homelessness for families we serve by providing a safe, stable, temporary home environment that promotes the dignity of each family. HFC currently operates 5 distinct service programs, including an emergency shelter, a transitional housing program, a family residence, aftercare services and support and a new permanent supportive housing program. Through these programs, we offer a comprehensive array of support services, including case management, child care, counseling, housing referrals, advocacy, and financial assistance that enhance a familys prospects of securing permanent housing and achieving self-sufficiency. The Children and Family Therapist is primarily responsible for providing individual, family and group therapy to clients and clinical consultation, support and training to staff.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
Provide individual, family and group therapy to children 0-5 and their families.
Provide psychological evaluations for children 0-5.
Provide staff with clinical consultation, support, and training.
Provide referrals to appropriate community resources.
Consult with social service agencies and other community based organizations.
Establish and maintain appropriate records, prepare reports, county billing, and other correspondence.
Participate in the evaluation of the services being provided.
Able and willing to travel locally as needed.
Attend meetings as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) registered with the California Board of Behavioral Science (BBS); or
License eligible Associate Social Worker (ASW) or Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (MFTI) who possesses a Masters degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling, is registered with the BBS, and has at minimum one year experience working toward clinical licensing hours.
Understand the psychological, sociological and physiological needs of homeless children 0-5 years
Demonstrated understanding of the social and interpersonal dynamics of poverty and homelessness (including knowledge of substance abuse, domestic violence and child custody issues)
Ability and willingness to travel amongst multiple sites required
Excellent written and verbal skills; computer literate ability to operate IBM compatible computers including regular entries into a client database and demonstrated ability to use MS programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc
Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
Position requires routine TB (Tuberculosis) testing and documentation (post-offer);
Position subject Background checks (pre-offer).
Possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
Possession of valid CADL and clean DMV record strongly preferred.
