JOB DESCRIPTION:

Seneca Center counselors work as part of a therapeutic team to maintain a positive environment, establish achievable goals for our children, and provide constant supervision in all areas of their lives. Counselors implement the behavior modification system that is the core of our clients’ therapeutic treatment. As importantly, we are looking for counselors that enjoy working with children, who can plan and engage in fun activities, who can be a role model and help our children learn how to establish appropriate relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Supervise children in completion of daily routines, implementing the behavioral system utilized in the home or classroom.
  • Plan and lead recreational activities for the children.
  • Assist in group therapy; participate in one-on-one meetings with each child.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized treatment plans.
  • Maintain resident files and daily logs (assess and evaluate each child's personal functioning on a daily basis).
  • Complete incident reports when necessary.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Intervene with the clients' behavior modification programs as needed. This includes physical management of clients (implementing Professional Assault Crisis Training) as necessary.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • BA/BS strongly preferred
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid CDL, clean driving record, and the ability to be insured by Seneca's insurance policy
  • California Department of Justice and FBI fingerprint clearances
  • Ability to excel as part of a team





COMPENSATION:




  • Classroom Counselors work school hours Mon. – Fri.
  • Residential Counselors work days and evenings Sun. – Wed. OR Wed. – Sat.
  • Awake Overnight Counselors work 10pm to 10am on one weekend day and two weekdays.


Compensation:

  • $13.00- $13.50/hour with a BA
  • 4 weeks paid time off
  • Paid employee medical, dental, vision, and chiropractic coverage
  • Scholarship opportunities
